Abstract

On "Huntingburg: Summer, 2007": "'Huntingburg: Summer, 2007' is a flash lyrical essay modeled after James Agee's 'Knoxville: Summer, 1915.' Using imagery and description, the essay tries to recreate the feel of summer growing up in the country—the golden nights and firelight, the ease and familiarity, and a sense of community and peace that's been hard to find in recent times. The essay also serves as a good reminder of how fleeting individual moments can be, yet how much power they hold in the span of our lives."
