About the Journal
Focus and Scope
publicINreview, an online journal published by the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, was introduced in summer 2012. The journal focuses on regional issues in the broad area of public affairs, discusses realistic application of emerging theory, and shares best practices with local practitioners and professionals. publicINreview is a forum where students can connect with practitioners in the Midwest area. In addition to student-written articles, the journal periodically includes interviews with local public figures and job postings, and it serves as a resource for networking opportunities, local events, presentations, and trainings in SPEA’s areas of interest, including public affairs, criminal justice and public safety.
The mission of publicINreview is to be the leading public affairs resource for practitioners by disseminating best practices and lessons learned via a network of student and practitioner authors.
Interested in Becoming an Editor?
The Board of Editors serves as the governing body of publicINreview and consists of four general editors and one business manager. General Editors are primarily responsible for soliciting articles and editing submissions, while the business manager is responsible for managing the production and publication process, including the journal website and email distribution. Eligible undergraduate students must have completed at least 56 credit hours toward a degree at SPEA at IUPUI while maintaining an overall GPA of at least 3.5. Eligible graduate students must have completed at least one semester toward a graduate degree at SPEA at IUPUI with a GPA of at least 3.75. Students meeting these criteria will receive an email inviting them to apply for an editorial position. Invitations will be mailed during the fall and spring semesters. Interested students will be asked to submit a writing sample of at least five pages for consideration. Incoming Board of Editors members will take office no later than the last day of the semester of their selection. Board of Editors members shall serve as apprentices the first semester and as full Board of Editors members the second semester.
