Abstract

Lillian Haydon Childress Hall, a native of Louisville Kentucky, was the earliest known African American to receive a formal library science education in the state of Indiana, and the first African American to graduate from the Indiana Public Library Commission Summer School for Librarians.

Assistant catalog librarian in the Catalog Division of the Indiana State Library. Received MLIS from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. Member of the Indiana Black Librarians Network and the Black Caucus of the American Library Association.
