Published Manuscript: In-text Citation Examples

Starting with the March 2026 Issue, Hypothesis uses the American Medical Association citation style for its references.

During Production, Hypothesis converts in-text citations to superscripts and then places the in-text citations before the terminal punctuation mark.

Example: Dark chocolate is healthier for you than milk chocolate, because it contains many antioxidants^X.
