CPCS serves a diverse population of urban adults. Its curriculum integrates liberal arts and career education in a competencybased format. The Assessment program orients entering students. It helps them plan individual degree programs assess prior /earning for credit develop speaking skills explore their own culture and the culture of others and become confident. selfdirected learners. The article advocates programs of this nature for entering adult students in other institutions.
