Abstract

One of the goals of liberal education is to create a critical and affirming environment that encourages both students and faculty to enter int.o a creative abyss that nurtures diversity, objectivity, change, and community .. Achieving this goal can result in a transformed pedagogy. Three critical factors for student success are evident: identity, involvement, and a sense of belonging within the academic community.
