Service Learning and Participant Observation: Undergraduate Field Research
Keywords:Higher Education, International Service Learning, Service Learning, Participant Observation
AbstractThe pattern of research and learning of the traditional social science technique of participant observation is similar to that of the activity of service learning. Service learning allows students to test theories of political science after their own personal observations in a service setting. It can be an effective and rewarding means of teaching undergraduates the logic and practice of social research.
