Abstract

This paper provides an analysis of the impact of 9111 on a major urban/metropolitan university in the New York City metropolitan region, namely Pace University. The purpose of this paper is fouifold: ( 1) to examine the impact of a major catastrophic incident on an urban/metropolitan university; (2) to analyze how the university responded to the unforeseen crisis; ( 3) to relate the lessons learned from this experience for the use of other urban/metropolitan universities; and ( 4) to explain what is needed by urban/metropolitan universities in emergency management planning.
